Senior Software Engineer (Cloud / Data Platform)

Our client's a leading Dutch telecom provider focused on creating a more human, optimistic, and inclusive digital experience. They’re hiring a Senior Cloud Data Engineer for their Digital IT Data Platform, a team where diverse voices matter and collaboration drives meaningful change.

Your Day-to-Day: Ownership, Engineering, Collaboration
Design and build Python-based services and APIs (FastAPI or similar) running on AWS
Develop event-driven workflows, queue workers, and batch jobs using Lambda, SQS/SNS, and DynamoDB
Architect cloud-native systems using AWS ECS, Lambda, S3, and API Gateway
Use Terraform and GitHub Actions to deliver infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipelines
Collaborate with product, data, and cloud teams to shape new features and platform improvements
Support security, FinOps, observability, and audit requirements
Mentor peers, share knowledge, and help raise engineering standards
Work in a team that values diverse perspectives, psychological safety, and continuous growth
What You Bring (and What You’ll Grow Into)
4–5+ years of hands-on AWS engineering experience
Strong Python skills, ideally with FastAPI or similar frameworks
Experience designing or operating queue workers, event-driven systems, or batch processing
Terraform experience and working knowledge of CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions or similar)
Understanding of IAM, VPC design, encryption, and AWS security best practices
Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical partners
Experience mentoring others or contributing to team standards
Fluent in English and already based in the Netherlands
Nice to have:
Experience with Kafka or Kinesis, observability tools, Kubernetes/ECS, or data engineering and ML tooling. None of these are mandatory, but they’re great areas to grow into with team support.
